What is the TVS Care Record?

The TVS Shared Care Record is a computer system for sharing health and care information with care professionals (for example, doctors and nurses) in the region.  Information about health, for example medications, allergies, admissions and previous illnesses, can be viewed by all people involved in providing your care. This is known as a Shared Care Record.

The Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) Integrated Care System (ICS) works in partnership as part of the Thames Valley and Surrey Care Records (TVS).  This means, by sharing information safely and securely, wherever you are seen within the TVS region the people involved in health and care will have access to the most up-to-date details to make the best choices.

How does it work?

What improvements are we making?

Historically, the BOB region has had 3 shared care record systems:

  • My Care Record (Buckinghamshire)
  • Health Information Exchange (Oxfordshire)
  • Connected Care (Berkshire West)

It is important that these older shared care records are replaced with TVS to ensure care professionals can access the right information on you wherever in BOB region you go … so that’s the plan!

This will ensure shared care benefits can be achieved and help enable key ICS priorities around improved outcomes; tackling inequalities and enhanced productivity.

What are the benefits for me?

  • Patient Safety - Up-to-date information about you can be viewed by health and care professionals, reducing risk in giving care.
  • Complete picture of care - Understanding the whole view of the care you are receiving will result in better care and support.
  • Reduction in unnecessary tests - Access to test results, such as blood tests, may reduce the number of repeat tests you need.
  • Reduction in hospital admissions - Better informed assessment of health and care needs will help professionals to care for you in your own home better, reducing ambulance callouts and the chance you may have to go to hospital.
  • Information in one place - Information available to all professionals involved in your health and care is summarised in one place, meaning you will not have to remember and repeat information as often.
